The impact of trauma can leave foster youth struggling to cope. As youth struggle to make sense of their experiences, they are often left searching for ways to heal. This training will focus on the CARMA Model to include social conditions into the definition of trauma. CARMA adaptations to trauma-informed care integrates social, cultural, and political context as an important form of understanding trauma. Providers will learn strategies of empowering youth to form their own conceptualization of trauma as a way to provide foster youth with some agency.
